G2150 SHACKLE

Shackle use and precautions:

  1. 1. The G2150 shackle must be without any flaws; the surface should be even, with no cracks, sharp corners, or signs of burning.
  2. Shackles should never be constructed from cast iron or steel, as these are no longer suitable. Instead, the shackle body should be forged using killed steel, and the pin machined afterward using bar forging techniques.
  3. Drilling holes and welding repairs are prohibited on shackles. If the shackle’s body or the shaft’s pin is bent, do not attempt to fix it, as it cannot be repaired once permanently altered.
  4. Inspecting the buckle body and the latch before use is important, ensuring no obvious damage or signs of extreme wear, deformation, or fatigue cracks.
  5. When utilizing the shackle, it is essential to ensure that the horizontal spacing has no tension, and a safety pin should be used to secure the shaft pin.
  6. Upon properly assembling the shaft pin, it is important to ensure that the buckle body’s width remains unchanged and there is a secure threading connection.
  7. Ensure the shackle is not used beyond its safe load capacity per the specifications.

The primary purpose and scope of application of shackle

  1. The shackle is an essential rigging component and is key during lifting operations. It is used to attach the end fittings of the rigging and has to be directly linked to the item being lifted up.
  2. Shackles can be used solely for connecting rigging and end fittings.
  3. The shackle is an ideal component when rigging in combination with the beam, as it provides a connection for the rigging advanced rather than the lifting ring and lug plate. This makes the installation and disassembly process much easier.
